Jovan Šerbanović (1919-1944) is a national hero born in Laznica village near Žagubica. He was a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia from 1939 and an outstanding figure in the National Liberation movement in East Serbia. He was killed in 1944, in a village Siga near Žagubica and by the decree of the Presidium of the National Assembly FNRJ in 1949 was proclaimed a National hero.
His birth house is located on the fifth kilometer of the Žagubica – Bor road. It was built at the end of XIX or beginning of XX century and its base is shaped like a Cyrillic letter “G”. It was made of split laths in half – timbered construction with a mud composite. It was plastered with mud mortar both from the inside and outside. It consists of the entrance room and “the house”. The entrance consists of a gate with a wide porch and two economical rooms from both sides. Peprendicular to this part there is an extended dwelling with “the house” and a room. The ceiling construction is wooden and today’s roof is covered with reclaimed roof tile.
The house was turned into a museum with a permanent ethno exhibition and in the yard there is a memorial bust of Jovan Šerbanović.
